PREFERRED WORKOUT REGIMEN:

Weight training and tennis. I love to be active everyday. When the “workout stars” align with my busy schedule, I prefer three days a week of weight training/body weight exercises in the gym for no more than an hour and two days a week of tennis for my fun-filled cardio.

HOW SHE JUST DOES IT:

Ha! You just do it. Easier said than done; however, if you’ve made exercise a priority, it can’t be an option to skip. Remind yourself how great it makes you feel. When I’m not feeling up to it, I just tell myself to go for a walk or get to the gym and do something. Anything is better than nothing. ABSOLUTE MUSTS:

Water, water and more water! It is so important to stay hydrated and something that I always have to remind myself to do: drink. So many times you think you are hungry, but you are just dehydrated. I try to stay stocked with lean proteins like fish and chicken to add to my salads or have with a side of veggies that I usually roast with a little olive oil. I also love avocados.

WILLPOWER GOES OUT THE WINDOW FOR…

My homemade salsa kills me every time. I can make a half-gallon and it won’t last two days. Also, Nutella or Oreos stay at Walgreens, and when I really want chocolate I have to drive to get the individual servings because I’ve never had Oreos or Nutella longer than two days in my house. I will eat the entire box or container—no doubt.

MOTIVATION TO KEEP MOVING:

My age—40!—and my children. The older I get, the younger I want to feel. I’ve learned so much over the years and I need muscle to help not have injuries and to keep up with my sports and active children for a long life. I feel my best when I get proper sleep, nutrition and exercise.

PREFERRED WORKOUT REGIMEN:

I try to work out at least four times a week and if I can do more, great! I’ve become a pretty devoted yogi and feel my best if I practice two to three times a week. I’m always mixing it up, though, and I love running on South Beach. I usually do 3.5 miles. Anything outdoors or in the water makes me happy: paddle boarding, surfing, swimming. And I love Pilates.

HOW SHE JUST DOES IT:

Sometimes I just give myself a break and I don’t beat myself up about it. It’s not the end of the world if you miss a workout or if you’re routine is off. If I’m busy or on the go, I have a 20-minute Pilates routine that I can do. It’s easy to squeeze in and makes me feel like I’m not being completely lazy.

ABSOLUTE MUSTS:

I make a large batch of green smoothie at home that lasts for about three days: 7 cups kale, 6 cups romaine, 1 apple, 1 pear, 1 banana, 1.5 cup celery, lemon juice. It’s a no-brainer, nutrient rich breakfast/snack that’s always in my fridge.

WILLPOWER GOES OUT THE WINDOW FOR…

All of them! I always joke that I could go totally vegan, but I need pizza and cheeseburgers.

MOTIVATION TO KEEP MOVING:

The body is such an amazing tool. I just always want to feel healthy, strong and able. And yeah, I want to look as good as I can in a bikini for as long as I can.

PREFERRED WORKOUT REGIMEN:

My favorite workout is exactly what we do at Barry’s Bootcamp: a fun group setting, with half of the time spent doing interval runs and the other half doing exercises on or around a bench. I find the energy of others to be energizing to me, so while I push myself pretty hard when I work out on my own, I push myself even harder in the presence of others. I also love a good outdoor run in a new place; I travel so much for my automotive journalism; it’s a great way to check out the places I land.

HOW HE JUST DOES IT:

I admit I’m not always successful at this, and there are many workouts I plan early in the day that I postpone until later in the day. But again, I think about 1) the friends I know will be at the gym, and 2) the results, of course, and if I’ve had too many cheat meals that day, and that usually gets me there.

ABSOLUTE MUSTS:

I also start the day by pouring a cup of pasteurized egg whites and a cup of blueberry-açai Goodbelly juice into a bottle and downing it. Sounds gross, but you don’t taste the egg whites, and you get 25 grams of protein along with a load of probiotics and vitamins all at once.

WILLPOWER GOES OUT THE WINDOW FOR…

Lucky Charms. There. I said it.

MOTIVATION TO KEEP MOVING:

Two things: 1) I like tight clothes, and 2) I have hot friends. Both are very motivating.

PREFERRED WORKOUT REGIMEN:

Pilates—because who doesn’t love working out lying down? Seriously, Pilates changed my body…I have abs now! I also have a love/hate relationship with running, but it’s my go-to regimen for cardio.

HOW SHE JUST DOES IT:

After the birth of my son, I put on 15 pounds and I looked so bloated in my face, particularly. I never want to look that way again! When I’m not inspired to workout, I’ll sign up for classes beforehand—that way, I’ve paid up front and am forced to go. #LifeHack

ABSOLUTE MUSTS:

I live a low-carb lifestyle. I eat the same breakfast every morning: one poached egg. B-o-r-i-n-g! For snacks, I always have raw almonds or cashews in my handbag like a squirrel. I’m also a fan of Justin’s peanut butter on-the-go packets from Whole Foods. Smoothies have too much sugar and protein bars are loaded with processed stuff, so I avoid them like the plague.

WILLPOWER GOES OUT THE WINDOW FOR…

My Achilles heels are Misha’s cupcakes and Houston’s spinach dip. If they’re around, it’s game over.

MOTIVATION TO KEEP MOVING:

Two words for you: Mental sanity. Working out gets my blood flowing and those endorphins moving— working out is like insta-Prozac for me.
